Am I ever tired of reading?

Somedays it feels like it. Maybe I have too many books; too many started that aren’t what I hoped, aren’t what they promised. Want to read something else but need to finish this or that. Duality of want to but eyes and energy say no, or simply want a change in genre, even storyline.

The curse for any reader, especially a book reviewer, is sometimes you just get tired of reading. Whether the stories all blend together or it’s an emotional drain of finishing the last available book in a series, I don’t know what to tell you. Sometimes the reading just isn’t there.

What’s a book reviewer to do?

Definitely take a break. Walk away from whatever you’re reading before your mood infects your review. Read something for pleasure, change genre, start something new, read a magazine. Start writing the review from the notes you’ve made.

I’ve gone so far as making pages on my website – paperwork for future reviews.

Stream anything on TV or a tablet. Back to back bad and good movies till you are screaming for the peace of reading in any corner.

Window shop for your next 100 books. Buy a few. Search your fave authors and publishers.

Read reviews. There’s nothing more complying then reading a review, a negative review works better, about a book you’re currently reading. You’ll either want to defend or cheer it on more.

The best thing if you ever find yourself tired of reading…
